Buddha Shakyamuni is the founder of Buddhism and was born as a prince in 624 BC in Lumbini. Lumbini was originally part of northern India but is today part of Nepal. "Shakya" is the name of the royal family he was born into and "Muni" means "the one who has the ability".

His parents gave him the name Siddhartha and many successful predictions about his future was given. As a young man, he lived as a prince in the royal palace, but when he turned 29 years old, he chose to retreat to the forest to follow the path of meditation. After six years, he reached enlightenment at Bodh Gaya, India.

Buddha Shakyamuni gave a total of 84,000 teachings that explained many profound practices for spiritual training, all tools for cleansing and gaining control of the mind. Buddha believed that when we practice these and achieve permanent inner peace, nirvana, we have developed deep spiritual insights of all-encompassing love, compassion, wisdom and inner peace.

Sapphire is a wisdom stone that access intuition and truth, aligning balance from within. It calms the mind and releases unwanted emotions, frustration and mental tension. A sapphire is beautifully decorated at the third eye of Buddha.
