WHAT IS A MALA BEAD

A mala is a string of beads, commonly used in a meditation practice.

It is a sacred tool, simple yet very effective. You may find malas to be particularly helpful when reciting a mantra

or an affirmation, but can also act a guide if you choose to meditate in silence.

Each one of our malas are made by hand and consists of only authentic gemstones paired

with the finest silver details. Before sending them off, every mala receive blessings and an intention.

We believe our malas vibrate to its rightful owner.

The larger bead, at the end of the mala, is called the Guru Bead, it is there from which the tassel hangs, making it the 109th bead on the mala.

MALAS USED THROUGH ANCIENT TIMES

Malas has been used for thousands of years in the traditions of Buddhism, Hinduism, by yogis and spiritual seekers, in prayer and in meditation. Malas have their roots in India and were used in a specific style of meditation called Japa, which means ‘to recite’. Mālā is Sanskrit and means ‘meditation garland’.

OPTION OF MALAS

A traditional mala has 108 beads, however there are options for whomever wish to meditate a shorter amount of time. Subsequently after a full size 108 bead mala there are half malas, consisting of 54 beads. Just like a traditional mala, the 54 bead mala may be worn as a necklace. The shortest mala consists of 27 beads resulting in a rather large bracelet. It is a great way on a beginner’s journey of mala meditating, since it is easy to handle and require very little time.
